qualify the work with impressive words about its importance would undermine
its impact on my life - I do what I do because I'm good at it, and because I
love nothing more than the feel of a gourd in my hands as I work to craft a
piece that integrates Native American iconography with wildlife images and
gemstone inlay to celebrate the idea that everything is connected and we are

I envy artists who can speak eloquently and at
length about the inspiration for their work. I can't. I never look too
closely at the work I do, because it comes from a place so mysterious to me
that to examine it in any great detail might, in my view at least, break the
spell.
